The Zucchini and Squash have grow very quickly over the past few days. They are healthy and doing well! The Beets have come in although I found a few pulled out by the root, again the vermin strikes!! Aside from that, they seem good. Now that I can see them, I will fill in any empty spots with more seed.

Leafy Greens Garden May 19th
As you know I’m trying to deal with a vermin that has been eating my greens. We put a trap out and whatever it was, took the bait, the trap closed and some how it got out because there was nothing in the trap. This vermin must be magic. Leave it to me to have a crazy magician creature in my yard.
So the Bok Choy has had it. I cant save it, its too far gone. I’m going to pull it out and try again. I’ll salvage what’s there and add it to a salad. Waste not want not
Here is my Kale. It was eaten a little on top but seems top be growing just fine now. Last year I had a forest of Kale so hopefully this will take off soon!
My Arugula and Spinach are doing fine. I actually cut back some spinach today to a salad. I also tasted the Arugula and I love it! It is super bitter, just the way I like it.
Onions, Garlic, Chives May 19th
Here are my Garlic, Onions, and Chives to date. They are fully grown I believe. Now I just have to wait for the leaves to die back and they should be ready to pick. I cant wait to see what I actually got out of this.
I’ve been watering them lightly so not to rot the veggies growing in the ground. It seem to work just fine. At least what I can see above the ground… you know Ill keep you posted as the leaves start to die off
Vegetable Garden- Zucchini and Squash May 6th
Decision made and Beets are the winners!! I planted my Zucchini and Squash plants from the farm market about a week ago and had some extra room in the front of my garden. I ended up planting Beets here, about 3 rows I think. Never grew Beets before but that seems to be my theme this year.

Potatoes May 6th
Wow! These are growing at a phenomenal rate. As you can see from previous pictures, these are growing tall . I just continue to add soil to the container as they grow. In my small container I may need to add some chicken wire and hay to allow me to add more soil so they can grow taller. The taller I can get them to grow the more potatoes they should produce (fingers crossed)
I wish I could tell if potatoes are actually growing in here…hhmmmm
Leafy Greens May 6th
Now that my leafy greens have grown and are about 3″ high, I can show you the garden as a whole instead of individually. From left to right is kale, boy choy, spinach, arugula. You can see how I separated each group by about a foot of space.
I also prepared the back portion of the garden for my cucumber, which will go outside either today or tomorrow.
I cannot wait to not have to buy these in the grocery store
Vegetable Garden April 29th
As you’ve seen in previous posts, I started tomatoes, eggplant, cucumbers, and peppers inside. Well they are truckin along just fine.
It is time for squash to go outside and since I didn’t start them inside this year, I took a trip to my local farm market today. I purchased yellow squash and zucchini, 4 plants of each. This plant takes up quite a bit of space, while Id love to do more, I just cant fit them.
I added composted manure soil to the garden, racked it in about 5-6″ deep and planted then about a foot and a half apart. I kept them more towards the back of the garden hoping to have space for something else in the front. As you can see here, I should have another foot or more to plant something else. Maybe Ill put some low growing herb there
Onions, Garlic, and Chives April 29th
Onions, garlic, and Chives April 22nd
I’ve never grown these before, for some reason I thought they wouldn’t grow or were just to difficult. But I found it is just the opposite. They grow like weeds with little effort on my part. I like that lol. They are actually growing at a staggering rate!
I did not get a good pic of the Onion Chives, you can see them in the right had pic in the right corner. Grow these..thats all I can say. They came back from last year and are super healthy and getting tall.
